The Taming Inauguration Day Reading

Join Monday Theatre Company after Trump's inauguration for some much-needed political theatre solace... and also help us fund our 2017 season!

Presenting a reading of

THE TAMING by Lauren Gunderson

Tweetering, pandashrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison -- what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female "power-play" inspired by Shakespeare's Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator's aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause. Well, that and a semi-historically-accurate ether trip. Here's lookin' at you, America.

Public Reading: ATALANTA by Case Watson

Join Monday Theatre Co. for a public reading of Case Watson's new full-length play, ATALANTA, a retelling of the classic Greek myth.

In the posttraumatic aftermath of the Cadylonian boar hunt, Atalanta finds herself confronted by a new foe: matrimony. She vows to marry the first man to beat her in a footrace, believing she will outwit the system with her incomparable speed. When a friend uses his own wit to defeat her, though, she must accept her fate with grace and become a wife.

But what if this ending were a lie? What if she hadn't honored her agreement? What if, instead, she had panicked and fled?
